Halloween is fast approaching…

Alright, so I’m a big Halloween fan. You might have guessed this by the fact that my business includes the strange combination of wedding gowns and costumes. I love clothing in general, from every day clothes to fabulous wedding dresses, but there is just something about making a costume that is both exciting and freeing. You can do it however you like, with whatever materials you want.

This year, I’m going to try to continue with my earth-friendly plan and use things I have as much as possible. Lord knows I have a lot of stuff! So… what would my children like to be this Halloween, you might ask? Well, G wants to be Corinne, the Barbie Musketeer. That shouldn’t be a problem. I have a fair bit of pink for the requisite dress, cape and boots. The hat is trickier, but I’ll figure something out… My son, on the other hand, insists on being Lightning McQueen. Argh. I’m thinking sewing that one might take a whole lot of time and money. I made some great fish last year for a theatre production (see below) but I’m wondering if I should shape and paint a box instead.

I have found a few sites online where people have done it and they turned out wonderfully. Stay tuned to see what I decide to do…

In other news, I’m almost done with my latest wedding gown for a client. It’s turning out beautifully. Organic and recycled materials – we incorporated her mom’s wedding gown. I can’t wait to see pictures after the wedding! Next, it’s all about Halloween! I have costumes for my son’s preschool teachers for this year and next as well as the ones for my kids. So much fun! Just hope time is on my side… Life is busy now that G’s in kindergarten! Fingers crossed…
